The beginning in
Kangayam, 1932

In a small town in Tamil nadu, three visionaries R. Arumugam Chettiar, S. Krishnappa Chettiar, and N. Ganapathi Chettiar laid the foundation for RKG in 1932.

Their ghee, rich in flavour and made with care, soon found its place in kitchens across the South. That humble beginning became the origin of a legacy now carried forward through generations.

From one town
to many homes

RKG’s name spread not by ads, but by shared meals and trust. By the 1940s, it had reached Travancore and beyond, embraced by Kerala as its own.

In time, store owners, distributors, and partners became part of the legacy not as associates, but as family.

Three men. One dream

R. Arumugam Chettiar, S. Krishnappa Chettiar, and N. Ganapathy Chettiar believed pure ghee shouldn’t be a luxury and should reach every home. In 1932, they brought that vision to life in Kangayam - the start of RKG with purity at its heart.

1942
Spreading roots beyond Kangayam

Within a decade, RKG grew across the Madras Presidency, reaching Travancore and neighbouring districts. Kerala embraced our ghee early, and the bond has only deepened since.

Built on trust. Grown through relationships

Storeowners and well-wishers stood by us like family. That circle today includes 400+ distributors - this isn’t just our story, it’s theirs too.

The seal of trust

RKG became among the first few to receive AGMARK certification, proving purity and deepening trust.

1970
Packs that reached every home

Introduced 500 ml & 200 ml packs in the 1970s; by the late ’80s, 100 ml & 50 ml packs helped RKG reach more kitchens across South India. 

1992
From Kangayam to the world

Exports began to the Gulf, then Singapore, Malaysia, and beyond. Today our ghee is trusted in 7+ states, and we are India’s second-largest ghee exporter.

2002
Small jars. Big impact

PET jars - compact, clean, reusable became a kitchen favourite for convenience from shelf to storage.

2007
Stepping into a new era

A modern factory built for scale: what once took weeks to produce is now packed in a day. We also built a designated fleet, getting fresh ghee to consumers in just one day - with purity unchanged.

75 Years of sharing joy

Marked our 75th anniversary by travelling to 8 major cities across 2 states, meeting distributors where they built our brand - turning milestones into memories.

Certified by the best

From FSSAI and Halal to ISO and FSSC certifications, we have earned every mark with care and commitment by setting up dedicated labs to meet both Indian and international standards.

2020
Raising the bar, again

Built a dedicated export factory, fully automated and compliant with EIA (Export Inspection Authority) norms, with 5,000 MT in-house cold storage.

2021
A restart rooted in gratitude

Post-COVID, we travelled across southern states to thank the workforce, partners, and distributors who kept us going when it mattered most.

A three-day anniversary in Kangayam with family, partners, stakeholders, distributors, and sales reps - a tribute marked by joy, pride, and togetherness.

Launched Rasogolla and Gulab Jamun, made with the same care as our ghee - because great food deserves a great finish.

Future-Ready equips school children with life skills via engaging workshops, reaching ~2,000 students every year across South Indian states.

With SICA, we train a minimum of 3,000 upcoming chefs every year across South India - mentorship, motivation, and real-world exposure.
